Electronic devices must never
exit an organization without detailed documentation -- especially computer assets that are being recycled. And just knowing the weight of that equipment does not provide any regulatory protection. As your risk mitigation partner, Maxxum recycles all end-of-life equipment in strict compliance with all EPA laws and regulations. We recycle domestically, and provide a Certificate of Electronic Equipment Destruction (CEED) that includes serial number, type of equipment, date of destruction and recycle partner utilized for all IT assets. Maxxum conducts annual audits to validate the recycler's compliance with our strict standards. Clients also receive current copies of the recycler's EPA licenses for their files on MaxxumSafe™.
We reduce all end-of-life assets to their smallest component parts and then engage domestic partners who utilize the most eco-friendly recycling processes. For instance:
- Plastic casings and pieces are turned into flower pots and paint brush handles
- Steel and other metals are melted down and reused to make new metal parts
- Electronic boards are shredded and smelted to reclaim the available metals
Maxxum's zero landfill policy
Maxxum is a key player in your Green IT iniative, and we can help you create a compliant, eco-friendly computer disposition plan. We do not ship any unprocessed equipment overseas for recycling because we know that a significant portion of that equipment is not truly recycled. It often ends up as landfill. We strive to make sure that no equipment that is recycled through Maxxum or our vendors ends up buried in the earth. That's our zero landfill policy. Everything is either recycled or remarketed after data sanitation.
